Huntley sat impassively in court
The man charged with the murders of schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman has been remanded to Rampton high security hospital where he will undergo more tests.

Former school caretaker Ian Huntley made his first appearance in court on Tuesday amid a major police operation to deter troublemakers outside Peterborough Magistrates' Court.

The 28-year-old faced two counts of murder and a third, new charge of conspiring to pervert the course of justice

Maxine Carr appeared in court this week

The woman charged in connection with the killings of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman has made a tearful court appearance via a live video link from Holloway Prison in London.

Maxine Carr, 25, a former classroom assistant, is charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Thousands of floral tributes have arrived in the Cambridgeshire town of Soham, where the church of St Andrew's has become a focal point for those wishing to pay their respects to Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman.

It is a week since the bodies of the murdered 10-year-olds were discovered in nearby Suffolk.

Books of condolence are open at the church and online

More than 2,000 mourners packed Ely Cathedral on Friday for a poignant service remembering and celebrating the short lives of 10-year-olds Jessica Chapman and Holly Wells.

 
The service was a poignant occasion...
