A ‘beautiful weekend’ for Michael Schumacher
August 19th 2001: A dream day for Ferrari as Michael Schumacher becomes 2001 world champion

Click to enlargeMichael Schumacher became the first man to win 12 races in a season with a dominant victory in Hungary 2004.

Rubens Barrichello made it a Ferrari 1-2 as the Italian team wrapped up their sixth successive constructors’ championship.

Schumacher and Ferrari turned the tables dramatically at a circuit where the world champion suffered the ignominy of being lapped last year.

At one time, it seemed Schumacher was intent on pressing home the point by putting a lap on everyone except his team-mate.

Schumacher made a perfect getaway at the start of the race, while team-mate Rubens Barrichello held on to second place.
